Explore Air Pressure and Density!
Squeeze the soda bottle to manipulate Squidy’s buoyancy and watch it sink and float!
Everything is cooler when it’s glow-in-the-dark! Now the popular soda bottle science toy is available in glow-in-the-dark green. The Glow-in-the-Dark SQUIDY puts an eery spin on the cartesian diver as a ghastly, glowing squid sinks and floats inside of the bottle!
Squeeze the plastic soda bottle and SQUIDY swims up and down in the bottle of water.
How does it work?
The illustrated instructions show how to construct the Cartesian diver and explains the scientific principle behind its action.
What does it teach?
When you have the water levels adjusted correctly, you should see the water in the diver rise as you squeeze the bottle. The air trapped in the pipette compresses into a smaller space and the diver’s weight increases. It becomes less buoyant and it sinks. When you release the squeeze, the compressed air expands and forces water out of the diver, allowing it to float to the top of the bottle.
This Classic Science Experiment Is Hundreds of Years Old
It’s named for a Frenchman, René Descartes (1596-1650), who made huge contributions in the fields of philosophy, math, and science. The original Cartesian Divers were made out of glass medicine droppers or delicate glass ampules.
For Teachers, Parents, Grandparents & All-Around Science Adults!
We haven’t forgotten about the new STEM and STEAM initiatives you’ve been hearing about in our schools, bringing Science, Technology, Engineering, (Art), and Math together to make young scientists into real thinkers! Look what your young scientist integrated into the Glow-in-the-Dark SQUIDY Cartesian Diver activities.
Comes with a Colored Step-By-Step Activity Guide!
The included Activity Guide features two activities: The Basic Diver and Making Glow SQUIDY.

Question
Lin Wangenheim –
I have three grandchildren, (different ages) and would LOVE to get them each a kit, but as they may not be interested in further kits, can I only order one kit per child to see how it goes? I am on a fixed income, so a monthly fee per child, would not be possible, but special occasion kits would be perfect..is this possible?
