What’s a geode? It’s a geological rock formation that contains a cavity lined with crystals. The most common “find” inside a geode is clear quartz crystals, but some have colored crystals. There’s no way to tell what’s inside a geode until you break it apart-but that’s the most exciting part!
The Break Your Own Geodes package includes 10 breakable geodes of assorted sizes for your treasure opening pleasure. The kit also features a how-to of safe geode breaking practices and educational information.
Recommended for ages 5 and up.

I bought this product ( and many others) for my son’s 7th birthday party. I made the mistake of thinking that each kid at the party could break open 1 geode and they’d be happy taking home a rock with pretty crystals in it as a party favor. The problem was that not all of the geodes revealed stunning crystals inside so there were some diappointed kids. They had a great amount of fun hammering them open, and I would consider this again for another party, but I’d make certain to buy enough so that each kid had 2 or 3 opportunities to crack open a sparkly geode.

The geodes were difficult for my second graders to hammer open and the inside crystals were not great. They did have fun trying to break them open. I don’t think I will order another set for this coming year.
